- 28.8 connects to non-USR modems, especially V.FC modems, improved
- significantly with the V.34+ firmware. Most likely, this means that the
- firmware upgrade included both 33.6 code and improvements to the 28.8 code
- independently. However, that still makes the upgrade a no-brainer if you have
- flash ROM (Courier, Sportster Vi with DSVD) and worth considering if you have
- to buy the PROM (other Sportsters).

- Major bummer. Selective reject can improve throughput significantly on lines
- with periodic noise.

- PPI/Hayes write their own controller code, so they are not representative of
- the majority of Rockwell-based modems built with the 'total solution' chipset
- or Rockwell-derived controller code.

- A couple of Couriers with a 33.6 connect fell just short of 4000 CPS on large
- .ZIP files. Can't speak for Sportster 33.6 code, though.
